Established in 2014, the Scope – University of Melbourne Partnership is a collaboration that draws upon the interdisciplinary expertise of staff from both University of Melbourne and Scope. The purpose of the Partnership is to improve the lives of individuals living with disability and to be a leader in disability research, teaching and advocacy. 

 

Scope was founded in 1948, and has grown to become one of the largest disability service providers in Australia. It supports more than 6000 people with disability across Victoria and New South Wales. Scope provides a range of services including disability accommodation, mobility support, specialised therapy, recreation/leisure and communication support. Scope has a long-standing commitment to conducting research and implementing evidence-based practice and advocacy. 

 

Together, the University of Melbourne and Scope are collaborating on a range of activities and projects together that are improving the lives of people with disabilities and their families. These activities are interdisciplinary in their focus and involve research projects, joint teaching and learning programs, events and engagements. Keeping people with lived experience of disability at the core, Scope and the University frequently engage and work together with families, other leading service providers and government agencies.
